Stuck
Most of us want to craft a life with less conflict and more congeniality. And yet we often find ourselves stuck in old patterns of dischord in spite of our desires to live a more fulfilling and loving life. Day three of a new year and some of us have already given up on even daring to expect change after years of collapsed good intentions and sincere resolutions. This is our norm. Why does the NACR commit a week to intensively study the work of recovery? Because it matters so very, very much! The day was gray and overcast, matching my ministry mood as we walked through the slick glass doors and rode up the silver bullet of an elevator to the top floors of a high rise in Dallas that housed the Leadership Network offices. Our recovery ministry, along with ten or so … [Read more...] about From the Executive Director

Reflections on the Summer Institute of Recovery Studies by Kelly … [Read more...] about From the Exec Director

As many of you know, the Summer Institute of Recovery Studies was held on the Fuller Campus in Pasadena, CA in July. In the rush to and from class, it would have been easy to miss the Prayer Garden tucked into one corner of the Fuller property. The stone structure is covered with vines and has a water feature that softens the city sounds and invites one to come in, take a seat and pray. I swear if … [Read more...] about From the Exec. It is expensive to take a week away from work and/or ministry. Many who attended are like my husband, Pete, who showed up for the Summer Institute of Recovery Studies. Which means he took a week away from his IT job without pay. Or the therapists among us who cleared their books to make this trip. What about those of you who paid your own way because your yearly ministry budget is smaller than the … [Read more...] about From the Executive Director

On June 12, 2015, at Caron Treatment Center’s 10th Annual Washington, DC Metropolitan Community Service Awards ceremony, Teresa McBean was honored with the “Community Leadership Award, Individual”. The NACR's Board of Directors wanted you to know and congratulates Teresa for making a difference both in her local community and in the larger recovery movement.
